Default Frank Shamrock

Anyone else here a Frank Shamrock fan. First time i saw this guy fight I thought he was way ahead of everyone in the MMA world. His quickness and submission skills owned most of his opponants in less than 30 seconds.

Does anyone know what happened to him and the Lions Den? DId he or will he ever make an appearance again?

Frank left the Lion's Den a long time ago. he formed the Alliance with TK and Maurice Smith. Frank was very good at the time when he was fighting in the UFC. some would say he was way ahead of his competiton which is way he did so well. there are a few other threads around here about Frank so you should look around.

I too watched a few of his fights and was amazed,he quit at the top of his career and i think sold his self short,he could have been the best ever in my opinion though alot might disagree.

I agree, if he wasnt the best he was one of the best ever. I think Top 10. Nothing lower, maybe higher.

Didn't fight enough quality opponents?

He's defeated Bas Rutten (one of the very best martial artists of this generation), Jeremy Horn, Tito Ortiz, Kevin Jackson, Igor Zinoviev...

An overal record of 20-7-1 I beleive. Not to mention King of Pancrase. That's not an easy belt to get.

Beat Bas by decision...Then got TKO'd the next year by him....
No doubt he was a damn good fighter BUT top 10? I don't know
He beat Tito when he was a young pup....then never wanted to have a rematch...my feeling is if they would have fought again ....Tito would have won IMHO of course....

Yeah Bas did beat him the next two times but beating Bas at all is no easy thing. The fact that it went to a decision is an accomplishment winning or not. And one of Bas' victories was by TKO because Frank got cut. If it wasn't for the cut the fight could've gone much differently as Frank had some great takedowns early.

I feel frank has more skill. Ken has more animocity. now days Frank would win hands down. Ken is getting too old and I have not seen him in quite a while. I am quite sure he stays in shape but can almost guarantee at the same time his agility and speed have fallen a bit from what he had. Would have been a good fight 3-5 years ago.

I think it would be a great fight even now. I think ken is in better shape then he is given credit.. He looked great (shape wise) during the franklin fight which i think he may of won if he hadn't slipped, but thats pure speculation.

I've always felt that Frank was better than his brother. He has quicker takedowns, submissions and hands. His brother however can knock you out with his fists much easier. Ken is very strong and has excellent take down abilities, but I think he is a bit overrated because of his early debut in the UFC. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Kens and I'm glad he got his life back on track. He is a great commentator and he looked freakin' RIPPED and IN SHAPE for the Franklin fight. I wish the UFC hadn't paired him up with Franklin due to the fact that everyone knew Franklins abilities and skill level. They should have matched him up with someone like Tito or Kimo again.

Anyway, I hope that good ol' Frank does well in his fight and that this upcomming fight for him will spur him to continue in his fighting carreer, and hopefully his carreer will be with the UFC

BTW~ does anyone know why Frank split from his brother, father and the Lions Den?
