Default UFC making 'Rampage' the next 'Iceman'???

i think the ufc is prepping rampage to be the next iceman. hes a great talker, easily marketable, good name, photogenic, looks mean, etc. especially watching 'inside the ufc' it really seemed like they want to put him in the main spotlight, and make him 'the new face' of the ufc, like liddell is now. plus chuck is getting on in years. i guarantee the marketers already have the plan in motion if/when rampage beats chuck! what do you guys think???

He's definately a better talker than Chuck.
There is no question that he is marketable. If he gets on a winning streak, Rampage will be a HUGE STAR!

I think he meant a huge star in the UFC.

I agree with all of you. The time will come when Chuck needs to step down and a new Champion must be crowned and I am sure it will be Rampage.

The fight might not happen for bit, and yes with Rampage being a cool dude and good talker he will have a lot of fans, thus making a very hype up Chuck Rampage fight. Can't wait could go either way and I give the edge to Rampage only because he beaten him before. (might give Rampage the mental edge.) Don't get me wrong Chucks stlye is bad for anyone. I'm really undecided.

It's that charisma he has, that makes him such a good face for the UFC. Even if he loses every single one of his fights (which won't happen), he's still the kind of guy that keep attracting the media, and fans.

He's a pretty good choice to replace Liddell (and I guess Tito) out of the many newcomers lately. Forrest is good for that too.

You're so right. If you have the charisma that Forrest and Rampage have you'll receive a lot of attention. I just wish Forrest was more skilled. Don't get me wrong, I like Forrest and I cheer for him when he fights, but he still has a long ways to go.

Yeah, I hope Forrest does better from now on. He's one of my faves.

Forrest needs to learn to fight before he gets hurt. He never really turns it on until he's been hurt. Against a top fighter or a big hitter, you may never get the chance if you wait like that - see Jardine fight. Forrest is a pretty decent technical striker, but he has to watch the head dipping. Right now, he's getting by nearly solely on heart and chin. Doing that against upper level fighters just leads to both getting broken.

Who is to say that Rampage will even beat Chuck? That is an assumption I'd stay away from at this point.

Well, Dana has said in the past that the UFC is going after the urban market so talented black fighters are most probably part of the marketing plan. The UFC has done very well with marketing strong American fighters to the general public, now they are going after the minorities...And Rampage is just such an awesome guy!

I also believe the UFC is going after the South American (Hispanic) minorities in the US.

well, someone was going to capitalize on him moving his head down in exchanges, and considering how sharp he was after that "loss" to ortiz, i'm sure he'll be ready for his next fight, a lot of people are counting him out too soon i think.

Will the UFC ever go after the Indians? Or how about Australian Aborigines?

I don't know, maybe they will? The point is there is a huge market in the US the UFC is only now starting to target and Dana has confirmed this in interviews (I believe one of the interviews is on this forum)

It's the same for Rampage. If he comes out and puts on fights like his last ones in PRIDE, it's gonna be tough to make him a huge star like Chuck.

I believe him though, when he says he's training his ass off now that he's in the UFC. We'll see where he can get with that...

And he's funny. And he's fan friendly. I've met and hung out at bars at several events with Rampage and you'll not find a more knowledgeable, articulate, friendly, AnD FUNNY guy (but in a good way) to be with.

He's respectful with taking autographs, pics, etc etc. But the fact too that he doesent take himself too seriously and he's honest. He doesent go out and smack talk saying he's the best, etc. He just goes out and fights.

Is Chuck scared right now? No. But is he of course probably pissed that Dana brought in Rampage? ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY!!!!!!

Almost as if Dana is saying "Ok Iceman, you rolled over every LHW we have, so now I'm gonna throw some $$$ at THE ONE GUY who totally dominated you in your MMA career!"

Some champs might take that as a sign of disrespect by their promoter.
