Default Is Pride up to snuff with the UFC?

After tonights Pride 33 event, I really wonder if all of the Pride hype is real. With the exception of about 3 heavyweights, do you think Pride has anything on the ufc for fighters? For example Diaz, Trigg, Baroni, the Gracies, and Wanderlie all did absolutey fantastic over in Japan, Back here in the states they get their buts kicked easily. What if Mirko loses to Tim or Randy, Rampage loses to Chuck, and Heath continues to be a loser, what a statment that would make! Gomi was the shiz over in Pride and Diaz made him look like a punk tonight...I'm blown away.

Yeah for sure, but the reason for me was is the Pride super heros got the buts kicked by two middle of the pack American fighters. Henderson is a stud but I think Liddell would Ko him, so I was real happy to see him drop Wandy.

I enjoyed it as well. I've beent he biggest debater about why I think UFC fighters would do better or American fighters would do better than most think in Pride.

They can wrestle, Pride fighters can't.

Oh sure, you've got Fedor who's a monster, etc. But. Push comes to shove and you put a well groomed two time Olympic Wrestler or any superior Division 1 American wreslter in there? Good night. Look at Henderson as the most glaring example.

Grecco and Freestyle guys do this stuff from age 5 or so up to now. Their core strength is second to none and it gives more fighters with TMA type backgrounds (which Pride is full of) problems. I mean Trigg, Diaz, Henderson, Tito back in the day, all solid wrestlers (Diaz wrestled in Stockton before BJJ), all have done well in Pride. And will continue to do so in the future. Especially because the wrestlers are learning better standup as well.

I knew Diaz would beat their beloved Gomi. I don't think Pride is up to snuff with the UFC, and I'm glad that's finally getting a chance to be proven because it's annoying how every Pride fan talks like Pride's best are some elite, unbeatable class of fighter that would kill anyone in the UFC. Both organizations are around the same level, but lately UFC has pulled in the lead. That's how I see it, anyway.

well i think pride has the best HW and tied for the 2nd best (fedor nog) and the UFC has crocop 2nd.... i think shogun and chuck are very equal.. beyond that id give most other battles to the UFC... especially at the lighter weights now... i feel like we will get to see more and more fantasy fights after the diaz win, and after the silva loss

Mark Coleman is a pretty well groomed wrestler along with Randleman, Fedor managed to survive against them.

Its an open statement. where is he putting this groomed wrestler? in there with Fedor? who is this wrestler fighting? or is just saying that Dan dominates Pride because he is so good at greco? funny how the Greco guy KOed the striker. i not really sure what he is sayin.

im sure he will clear it up for me.

I don't really buy fights for the way it's presented. The card last night was better than the last few ufc's I have purchased. Ufc is for wrestlers and I always thought diaz would do better in pride. Ufc has decent depth of fighters with it's accusation of wfa, werdum, and crocop.

Pride is great. UFC is great. MMA is amazing. I just leave it at that.

I wasnt talking about wrestlers on steroids. I count any cheaters as non factors.

Diaz was lucky?

HAHAHAH.

Gomi was lucky he didnt end up in a hospital the way Nick was tagging him.

Nick has a much longer reach than Gomi, Nick freakin has better boxing than Gomi, and the GoGoPlata Black belt BJJ move?

A rematch for the title will be quicker for NIck IMO!
