It's part of his six figure contract. He got the same prize that Griffin got. I hope he is more impressive in his next fight.

I think Bonnar was a bit out of shape. Hopefully that fight was a wake up call and he'll be better prepared next time. He's getting 6 figures so he can focus on training so he had better be in better shape. I'm sure Zuffa has some fine print in the contract. Most UFC contracts have that if a fighter loses thier contract is in danger of being cancelled.

You talking about bonnar? 10k isn't that bad cause if you can get 5 fights a year in you're doing pretty good. Bonnar has no worries with 6 figures on his contract. As for Ivan, he should've been paid more, at least as much as Nate, especially if a loss would get him dropped.

I think 10 grand is a great amount. Nevermind the guys that are getting $10g win or lose. Show up and even if you lose you get 10 grand? Ill get in the ring with Arvloski and let him kick the everloving crap out of me for 10 grand.

More than $10,000 a fight? Until MMA gets popular like Baseball or NFL I don't think it's going to get all that much higher. I'm sure that Chuck, Randy, Hughes and the like make a ton more than this. No one on this card was as big a draw to warrant that much besides Bonnar and the other guys for hardcore fans of the show. The guys that made 10 grand are probably pulling in $50 grand a year. Definitely enough to live on (depending on living expenses where you live) nevermind the fact that you have time for at least a part time job while training. Making $50 grand a year fighting only five times in one year, taking into account training enough so you're on top of your game is very good for the status that these fighters are at now.
When they get to a point like Chuck then I'm sure that's when you start really living it up. You have to draw to be worth what you're getting paid and that means you have to be drawing people to pay the money for the PPV fights and not one the guys that fought UFN has the draw of a PPV main event fighter.

I agree with the "bringing in the crowd to get paid more" comments I've seen. I think its kind of crappy that Ivan Salavery only got $8K. He's been hyped up a lot lately on Spike Fight Nights, I thought for sure he would get more.
Until I saw the post I was irritated with all the "Sponsor Speeches" every winner does. Pulling out sheets of paper thanking them all. It just really made the fighting over commercialized in my opion. However, now that I see how much they get paid, and what they risk for it (potential life time injuries) I think they should get paid more considering how much ticket prices and sponsorship and tv deals Zuffa is making lately.
This sport is going to blow up huge. My girlfriend is hooked (Swick fan) and recruits new people every day. We watch the fights together and host parties. I'm telling you, MMA is going to be as big as NHL.
That's my opinion.

i always thought all the ads on fighters shorts were dumb but i see why. 50 grand a year is a good take, on paper i live in poverty. cops and fire figthers dont make 40 a year (not mi...check the unemployement rate). id take 5 grand a fight and a nother 5 if i win. i love the win bonus's though.

20 years buddy, i hope he would. my neighbors a ff and his dads the cheif. my neighbor does not make 40 thousand a year, his dad yeah...maybe in wallingford ct homie, or any small town for that matter. your town/city doesnt have 50k people in it, thats why.in small towns everybody makes that kinda money, i'll pull it. "Median household income: $57,308 (year 2000)" your form an area where their are prodominetly white people too, that'll bring in the big bucks.
Wallingford:
White Non-Hispanic (91.7%)
Hispanic (4.5%)
Other race (1.2%)
Two or more races (1.1%)
Black (1.0%)
Asian Indian (0.6%)
American Indian (0.6%)
my source... http://www.city-data.com/city/Wallin...nnecticut.html
which leaves me with two questions, you do know that most people live in big cities(hense the name), and the people that live in these cities dont make damn near 60 grand a year? two have you ever SEEN a black person?
i know im being a dick but do go and say Fire figthers make way more than 40 grand, when they do in your town. sorry but wallingford ct dont make the world go round. hey bronx your from the bronx whats ur dad make a year?
kick smart i kick knowledge!

Under 10$K is not enough really. I mean if the UFC wants good fighters they have to do the math - they have to pay the guys enough that they can focus on fighting and get in the ring and put on a good show. If the guys have to have another job on the side they're just not going to be the same tier of competition as if they were professional athletes.
