Henderson wants Chuck AND Silva
According to UFCjunkie.com - UFC blog for MMA news, rumors, gossip, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps
---------------------------------------------------------
MMA legend Dan Henderson (22-5 MMA, 2-0 UFC) currently has two PRIDE Fighting Championships belts wrapped around his waist. And if things go his way, he’ll have two more — compliments of the UFC — by year’s end.
Henderson, a longtime PRIDE veteran, recently defeated former champ Wanderlei Silva at PRIDE 33 to win the organization’s middleweight belt. (The main event capped off one of PRIDE’s greatest events ever and what is surely to be one of the top events anywhere this year.)
Fourteen months earlier, Henderson defeated Murilo Bustamante by split decision to win the organization’s welterweight title.
The former Olympian is now the only fighter in MMA history to simultaneously hold two world titles in two different weight classes in a major organization.
And according to a recent MSNBC.com story, he’s got his eyes on two more.
From MSNBC.com:
After his win over Silva, Henderson revealed he had battled most of the fight with a broken right hand, which he said he thought he suffered in the first round. Once he is healed, Henderson has big plans for the rest of the year, including bouts against Ultimate Fighting Championship stalwarts such as (middleweight champion) Anderson Silva and (light heavyweight champion) Chuck Liddell.
Those bouts might not happen if UFC and Pride Fighting, rivals MMA companies, can’t find common ground.
“I hope they do come together,” Henderson said.
Any sort of agreement between the MMA competitors might lead to megafights across the world, and Henderson probably would be a centerpiece of any card. Fans already are salivating over the possibility of watching someone such as Henderson meet the best in his two weight classes.
With the possible/rumored/pending sale of PRIDE to UFC majority owners Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta dominating recent headlines, the possibility of cross-promotion battle of champions is certainly looking more likely.
In recent years, the UFC and PRIDE have shown little cooperation with each other, but bringing both organizations under the same ownership group would surely open the doors for such superfights.
Regardless, simply knowing Henderson would be interested in such title fights is encouraging. Hopefully, the UFC and PRIDE can facilitate it.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Honestly, I can not see him beating either one of them....They would be 2 incredible fights, but I see Liddell and Silva coming out victorious...
What do you guys think?

That's the way I see it. How amazing would his fight with Chuck Liddell be, though? I'm pretty sure he would get the take down a few times, and I would expect it to make it a few rounds with lots of banging and wrestling.

i see Hendo beating chuck... Hendo has an amazing chin and can probably even KO chuck... he sure as hell can take him down... just a matter of keeping him down. Sliva couldnt beat him... or many others on team quest.

I saw this article this morning and thought it was a little weird. Although the article states that Henderson calls out both Chuck and Silva, there's no quote that remotely supports it. In fact, he never even specifically mentioned Chuck or Silva in any context. The way I read the original MSNBC article, it sounded more like the writer's conclusion, not Henderson's.

i think he could outwork chuck, but i don't think he would win on the feet, and if randy couldn't keep or really take chuck down i doubt hendo could.

He is a terrible matchup for Silva. I still think Chuck would have his number.

i suggest taking the sledge hammer to your computer but thats just me....
anyone who thinks chuck cant be KOed needs to think for a minute... Guy Mezger almost dropped Chuck and so did Rampage. Anyone can be KOed. CHuck just has a great chin. he will take a punch to give a punch and that doest match up well with Hendo. Hendo does the same thing and is fighting guys twice his size and not getting KOed. He also most definitely has KO power. The people who think Hendo cant beat chuck are probably the people who also think Chuck can beat Fedor, Cro Cop, Arona, or The Nog brothers.

Almost KO'd still isn't KO'd. And although anyone can be KO'd, a number of purely great fighters have never been and probably never will -- Chuck included.

I think that Chuck has the skills to beat any of those fighters and vice versa. Any of mma's upper elite class has the potential to beat one another, it's just a matter of whether they execute a successful strategy.
I'd also add that I don't think ANY fighter on that list could walk through that gauntlet of elite fighters consecutively without a loss, Fedor included.

Dan Henderson is one of those guys who can beat anyone on any given day. you can't count him out no matter who he is fighting.

Call me crazy but I think Dan Henderson has what it takes to beat both Chuck and Silva. As someone else has said, you just can't count him out. He has the power to knock both of them out, and he isn't going into the fight scared of either one of his opponents. If the fight doesn't go his way up on his feet, he can take it to the ground. Plus I think he would outlast Chuck in a 5 Round War any day of week. No offense but Chucks cardio isn't that great, and I thought he looked a bit flustered in his bout with Tito Ortiz.

Yeah, George really doesn't appreciate Chuck, does he...
But yeah, Hendo would be the favorite against Silva imo.
And Franklin.
Chuck would be a tall order.

That would be a weird fight featuring all three guys at once. So let me get this straight... Henderson would be beating Silva, while Silva is easily beating up Chuck for 5 rounds?
I only hope that Superfly Snooka comes in off the top rope to beat them all.

I can see Hendo and Liddell squaring off. There's a photo of those two having words in a bar. I don't think they like one another.
I'll take Liddell for the win.
