Cro Cop/Michael Mcdonald and MMA - Fight Forum - MMA - UFC - Boxing - K1

I didnt quite know where to post this thread, so forgive me. But with Cro Cop now in The UFC, I figured what the heck.

Anway a quick question.

Michael McDonald has been a favorite kickboxer of mine for a long time and hes the only one striking wise to really beat Cro Cop at his own game (leg kicking). So I wondered.

Why has Cro Cop been so easy to transition and do well in MMA and McDonald suck so bad in his one MMA attempt? Is it an issue of cross training, maybe McDonald is too one dimensional etc.? Is it a matter of physics McDonald is only 5'11 at heavyweight, but he kicks and punches like a truck.

I was just curious because I think McDonald, given the right direction, could make a name for himself in MMA/The UFC, or wherever he decides to fight in the sport.

im thinking it has something to do with the volume of muscle he has, it will just take him a long time to be able to get that diesel body efficient at MMA to the level of stacked guys like Monson and Arona etc

Because Crocop had all the tools to progress into MMA , and like most wrestlers its alot easier to learn the other tools of MMA when you have such a Important part down pat already naturally , Crocop knew he could kick most peoples heads off then he got to work on his boxing striking skills and takedown defense and working out with Werdum doesn't hurt either. If you were to ask me the # 1 thing that seperates Crocop from other K1 fighters that have tried and failed at MMA , mentally he is one of the most relaxed guys I have ever seen in any form of fighting and doesn't have to say much and can send fear in his Oppoent .

Perhaps, and you're likely right. It's just I wished Mcdonald had more of a show in MMA as great a kickboxer he is!

Before CroCop started fighting he was “Croatian Police Anti-Terrorist Unit Alpha” , He still is in some form if I’m not mistaken so he probably had a lot of training in MMA skills, He just went to kickboxing only at first then moved into MMA.

MM is probably more of a straight up kickboxer with little to no experience outside of that.
