Default Anyone else impressed with Kendall Grove?

I have been waiting forever to see this guy fight!! I think his style is pretty damn vicious. I've said it before, but long limbs in MMA make for a scary opponent. His knees are brutal. No fluke, this guy is for real. I will say the celebration at the end of his fight was ridiculous. Tito wannabee? Having said that, Kendall is a force and will be a champ.

He's sure come a long way from this:

ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

I'm still on the fence though. I look forward to seeing some more matches to base a better opinion. Especially if he keeps improving like he has.

I was very impressed. Alan Belcher really got the crap kicked out of him in all fronts. He smashed him with mean knees, slammed him down, and then submitted him. The way he controlled the fight in all positions was reminiscent of what GSP did to Frank Trigg, but to a lesser extent.

I thought Grove had too much hype on him and Belcher was going to take him out(one of the many reasons i bombed in the predictions contest lol). But he proved me wrong. He showed great improvement on all fronts. I look forward to seeing him against someone higher up on the ladder. A Jason MacDonald fight would be nice.

i was thinkin a jason mcdonald fiight would be a good next move

but im afraid that if he loses again (which i think i would against kendall) it would be the beginning of the end of his UFC stay for a little while

I'm impressed. Nobody except him and Tito know what a Darse Choke is

Rogan PRETENDED to know what it was by saying a Garse choke.... But it's a wrestling thing, not a BJJ thing

No one knows what a Darse Choke is...

In my training, it's a simple side shoulder lock. He simply made dude pass out.

WHich was a thing of beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I must say I didn't really want Grove to win. Now that I said that, yes he really did impress me, one of his better fights. I can only hope he keeps this up and maybe one day he will be one my good side (as if he really cares)

i like and respect his skills, but his attitude turns me off in a big way. but, he is young and the spotlight is on and he is living his dream. id like tio think id have more composure, but i cant be certain, so i cant really fault him for that, but i will, but nominally.

i really liked the arse choke, but krav, if only tito and grove know about it, how can you talk about it??

busted, i knew from day one you were tito, as soon as you said: tito aint one dimensional...hahahah!!! busted, son! i knew it!!

krav is tito, you heard it here first.

That choke was really scary actually. Ref didn't really clue in on what was happening imo. I mean the guy was out for a while before he pulled Grove off. I was thinking bad things, but thankfully the guy woke up.

Grove has a nice frame, is in a good camp, and all his fights have been exciting so far....I hope he does well in his next couple fights.

I like Grove, but I think he might be on the same line as Swick, and exciting fighter fun to watch, but he might start to get over matched with some of the bigger stronger guys in the division...

his celebration thing is a bit of fun, looks a tad silly, but its more about just showing a little respect to tito, and ofcourse team dagger haha, i think he has a good character.

I'm a fan of Grove. I think he developped alot more skills than when he started out. This fight showed alot of good technique: his knees, takedowns, overall striking, and the submission at the end. No doubt I was impressed.

But I'm still undecided on who he should fight next. Maybe one guy before he faces Jason MacDonald, but I can't figure out who.

What? The D'Arce choke is rarely used in MMA, but is seen in submission grappling. And its not known as a wrestling move as it has a BJJ roots. Its also known as a Shaolin Choke and by its original BJJ name of the Brabo choke. Its been used successfully by BJJ Black belt Vitor Ribeiro (hence the Shaolin name ) at the ADCC as well as by Otto Olson.

The name D'Arce comes from a student of Renzo Gracie who used this choke very successfully in BJJ tournaments. It is a variation of the Anaconda, but not the same thing.

i might be crazy, but:

1) i think that grove may be the tuffer that has improved the most from episode 1 to the present (compared to EVERY tuffer). i think he has acquired more skills and has shown the greatest variety of skills

2) i think his skill set is more diverse than tito's. tito is very one dimensional, whereas grove sems to have tons of tricks up his sleeves, and he fights smart. standing, clinching, foot stomping, it seems klike he is always doing something varied and productive.

^^Yeah, you're right duke.
Grove is pretty well rounded now, he gained alot of new skills since being on the show. This fight shows he's pretty dangerous everywhere the fight could go. That's what I like about him (and because he's TEAM DAGGER!!!)

But i didn't know he wasn't training with Tito anymore. Was it just for this fight or is he no longer with Team Punishment?
