Who will the UFC put in front of Tim Sylvia to keep him from the belt?
I am pretty darn sure that Dana really doesn't want Sylvia to wear the belt again. A loss on his first fight back on the trail of the title would definitely side track him for a good while.
So who will it be?

Either Werdum or Big Nog will break his arm again.

I'd really enjoy seeing Big Nog break Tim's face, mainly because I'm hoping AA beats Werdum.

Most likely Big Nog, but maybe Dana will let FEDOR end Timmy.

it might sound weird, but im looking forward to seeing Tim, without the belt and trying to fight to get noticed in a sea of the whos who; of the HW devision of the UFC.
I think Tim is better than we have seen, he had the belt and figured he didnt need to do anymore than lay back and grind out a 5 round decision. i can see him being hungry in his next fight.

i couldnt agree more. watching timmy fight for the belt is great, watching timmy fight with the belt is worse than being poked in th urethra with large sticks.
i dont think that big nog will be the first fight, though. dana likley wants to let the fighters from pride ease in to the ufc (see crocop and sanchez), especially after herring and o'brien.
nevertheless, i am quite excited to see how timmy does against the elite HW of the world. he was a one trick pony of sorts in teh ufc and has been the shinning star in HW for the majority of the last 3 years.
there is little doubt that tim was agreat champion in terms of duration. he was a great HW in the void that was teh ufc HW division, we now finally get to see how he stacks up against other elite fighters. i think he will love the challenge.
oddly, i think tha tim saw him having the belt as an indicator of place in the pecking order of HWs throughout the world. i think this was his demise as he was afraid to fight and lose the belt, which gave rise to his boring fights. but, on the same token, his desire to be the best may allow him to perform at his peak. its as though "being the best" is like a carrot on a stick in front of him, and he may do whatever he can to get that carrot/reward.
did that make sense? if not, email me at: im_the_internets'_best looking_ functioning_illiterate@thepublicscho...emfailedme.com

Yeah right Tim is scared of Fedor, tim will do whatever he can do to avoid Fedor.
This fight would be interesting but doubt seeing it because of scared little Tim.

I think Tim's a decent fighter when he's not holding the belt. I'm looking forward to hopefully some good match ups for him.

My guess would be Nog as well.
That fight could be pretty damn good too.

I also think it will be Big Nog. Ther are two main reasons to have this fight.
1) Sylvia is not popular and you always want popular champs. This will be a very bad fight for him and will probably lose.
2) Nog is a great and exciting fighter, the only problem is almost all of the MMA fans in America has no idea who he is. If he beats Sylvia, the former champ, fans should remember his name pretty quickly.

Regardless of who Mutten Chops fights next, i'm hoping he gets broken.
However, i agree with xVERITASx, i think Dana's going to want to fast track Nogueira, a rather unknown fighter in the american UFC realm. Best way is fight Tim.

I totally agree. It seemed when Tim was champ that he did not fight to win--he fought not to lose.

Tim and AA are both going to have to step up. the level of talent in the UFC heavyweight division has gone way up in the last few months. First it was CroCop then Werdum and now Big Nog. those are 3 guys who are top notch. Tim is going to have to really go to war if he thinks he is getting his belt back and the same can be said for AA. there are no more easy title runs for a UFC Heavyweight.

I realize you've proven your knowledge of MMA and your analytical skills too many times to question either, but I guarantee you that if Dana White had a contract with Fedor's signature on it, Tim Sylvia would knock over his own grandmother to get to it.
Fedor would almost certainly crush Sylvia, but it's ridiculous to say that Sylvia doesn't want that fight.
