ufcmania:Forrest Griffin (13-4) and Hector Ramirez (6-2-1) will clash in a light heavyweight battle in northern Ireland at UFC 72 on June 16, according to MMAWeekly.com.

This match up has been discussed for some time now, but we finally received the confirmation we needed to pass along the news.

The staph infection that forced Griffin off the UFC 70 card is apparently on the mend and he will be ready in time for the show at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast.

As for Ramirez, the ankle injury that caused him to pull out of his scheduled bout with Seth Petruzelli two weeks before UFC Fight Night 8 earlier this year appears to also be healed.

Both fighters are coming off of technical knockout losses. Griffin got pounded by Keith Jardine at UFC 66 in December 2006 and James Irvin did the same to Ramirez a month earlier at UFC 65.

Griffin — The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season one light heavyweight winner — is looking to get back in the title hunt after a disappointing setback in his last fight — it was widely speculated that with a win he’d get a crack at 205-pound king Chuck Liddell.

Meanwhile the hard-hitting Ramirez is in search of his first win inside the Octagon after an impressive run through some of the smaller shows on the west coast. He has four T(KO)s in his six career victories.

I think this should be a much easier fight for Forrest. Machida would of been way tougher for him. (imo)

Apart from Franklin v Kampmann and Griffin v Ramirez does anyone know of any other confirmed fights on this card? I've just booked my tickets, big Franklin fan!
