Tito Ortiz Talks Dana White
Quote:
For Immediate Release

“DANA WHITE HAS ONCE AGAIN TAKEN THE LOW ROAD…” SAYS TITO ORTIZ
UFC Fighter Says UFC President “Disrespects All Fighters,” by his Attitude
Statement from Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Tito Ortiz about accusations by Dana White, UFC President on Spike TV Thursday, April 12, 2007:
"Dana White has once again taken the low road and decided to try to damage my reputation and credibility in a public forum. During an appearance on Spike TV on April 12th White accused me of failure to show up for a fight we had originally scheduled for March 24th. He did so at the end of the program and gave me no opportunity to respond or tell the real story, which is simply this: White was fully informed well in advance of March 24th that I would not fight without a contract, which White refused to sign.
Fighting is my livelihood and jeopardizing my body without a full understanding of conditions, doesn’t make any sense. No professional fighter will go into a risky match without a contract.
I’ve struggled to get respect and dignity for my profession and I do it in the way I lead my life as a fighter and as a human being. Dana’s attitude not only disrespects me, but all fighters. I am taking this stand just not for this one incident, but for all future champions.
I want to reiterate: I am ready to settle my differences with Dana White in any fighting forum we can agree on, but only if there is a signed contract that stipulates where the money is going, whether it is to charity or to the fighters doesn’t matter as much as having a definitive agreement.
Until Dana White is ready to fight me on a professional basis, I strongly urge him to keep his mouth shut.”

I really think that show was misleading, IF Tito is telling the truth.

Jacob "Tito" Ortiz? His name is Jacob?!? LOL. I'm keeping that. Anyway, oh please. Give me a break, Jacob. The fact is that he asked for this fight. He insisted on it as a condition of re-signing with the UFC. Dana gave him what he wanted. Tito asked for the fight, they agreed on a date, and Dana trained for it and squared everything away with the commission. If Jacob doesn't care where the money's going, then why does he need a contract?
He's also tried playing the card that preparing for the fight meant disrupting his training and potentially complicating his scheduled fights and appearances. That would imply that he didn't anticipate having ANY fights or appearances scheduled when he initially asked for the fight?
Jacob has made a bunch of noise about how everyone was going to get paid in this deal except him. I'd like to see proof of that. If he's got numbers, or if there's any source anywhere that shows that Dana and the UFC planned to make any money off this, I want to see it. Because all I've ever heard is that any money made (which would have come only from Spike buying the show to broadcast) was going to charity. And yet, Jacob wanted to get paid.
He asked for the fight, he got the fight, and he backed out at the 11th hour. Dana isn't disrespecting "all fighters" -- don't make me laugh. He's disrespecting Jacob, because the kid hasn't changed a bit.

He is not willing to risk injury in a risky fight! Two seconds latter , "I will fight him If I know where the money is going" That is the second time I have seen him contradict himself in the same interview. Its not about injury for him its about the money! And about fighting dana in a "professional fashion" bs dana has gone through the proper steps whats not professional- the "where the money is going contract" that neither of you agreed to in the beginning. If you want to fight him you should have but now you have lost your chance. If you just wanted the money you should have told jenna to make another vid. I am off my soapbox.

Yeah, Tito bailing on the fight has guaranteed that it's never going to happen, since the NSAC won't sanction it, and they've already warned Dana not to go and do it anywhere else. It's very important to him to stay on the commission's good side, so he'll abide by that. Now Tito gets to join Kurt Angle in talking forever about how he'd be more than willing to back up his words, but people won't meet his terms.
Edit: I mean Jacob.

It's a shame this fight didn't happen, if only for the fact that both Jacob and Dana need to beat the crap out of each other and stop whinning.
Sitnspin, you also forgot to mention that although Jacob claimed not to know that this fight would be publicized, he readily agreed to film multiple interviews for the pre-fight documentary.

lol, sitnspin, ur effing hilarious man. Jacob. where did "Tito" come from? to make him sound like he comes from Huntington Beach? anyway, yeah, since the right people can't sanction it, Tito's using that as a safety blanket to talk all the crap he wants- which might be smart. I dunno. It's funny. All of it.

wouldn't they call him Yacob in Spanish lol, you ever seen George lopez lol.
Anyways, In the airing Dana even said that Tito called a couple of times saying that he might not fight, but Dana didn't believe him. Maybe if Dana listened, this could of been different. Tito as well should of at least could of been serious and talk to Dana about his "Contract Problem".

The show was definately one sided, but regardless it's hard to side with Tito on this one.
He put the stipulation in the contract and then didn't follow through.

this whole post is hard to follow if you call him jacob lol... that takes some getting used to...
anyways, i dont think he backed out at the 11th hour... im pretty sure dana knew about it... i feel like they are both wrong. tito should have made it known even earlier then he did and or got it done... and dana didnt need to spin a whole hour and a half show to make tito look bad... because obviously hes not being totally honest either

Well, I guess he means, he is not willing to injure himself for free. Anyway, I don´t know who I hate more, Dana or Tito.. I guess Tito.

I just find it funny that all of a sudden MMA fans call this a "Fight"
When it was a boxing match.

Since this was a part of his contract, which tito did not honor and violated the contract with. Dana should use that to roast tito's dumb ass.
Put tito in his place dana!

Dana can't roast a fighter who was the first to sell-out an arena in Vegas for the first time as a headliner under ZUFFA
Plus the fact that even as a Non-Title fighter he still does. Which is what The UFC CANNOT say about Tim Sylvia as a Title Holder
This is why the UFC keeps him around.
