Arrow More TUF 6 Changes!

Changes are afoot for the upcoming sixth season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). And it’s got nothing to do with the overstocked liquor cabinet.

Specifically, the coach of the winning team will not pick the match up for the next bout. Instead, the coaches will alternate each week — regardless of a win or loss — when it comes to selecting the fights.

In previous seasons, the coach of the winning fighter would have the power to line up the next bout, which sometimes led to mismatches and was often a morale killer in certain situations (BJ Penn’s team in TUF 5 springs to mind).

There is one more wrinkle: UFC President Dana White will have zero input (at least on camera) when it comes to the semifinal showdowns. In fact, the coach whose team has accrued the most wins throughout the six-week process will earn the right to coordinate both semifinal match ups.

Well, I guess that's better.. I hated it when Dana middled in picking semi- and finals..

I heard about that first rule change, I suppose it will make it fairer in a way. It should stop one team dominating the start of the show anyway.

Good stuff. I think both changes are a step in the right direction. Now all we need is a dry house, so to speak

Lose the liquer lose some ratings. I honestly think they need a little of the "reality show" qualities to keep the audience from yawning from time to time. Don't get me wrong I could sit and watch hours upon hours of just training to get new ideas and to mix up my own routine. BUT not everyone who is a fan trains or enjoys just that they like to see the partying and the mischief a house of revved up athletes can come up with.

screw that, I loved it when Ed Herman sat in front of the camera bitchin about how Tito didn't pick him and he wanted to bulk up and fight Tito, that was classic. Or how about when the Brits drank everyone under the table and they needed subtitles to show what they were actually saying. Liquor is a must.

I like the first change, but having one coach decide the semi-finals may as well negate the problem that was solved with the implementation of the first change... I could care less about whether Dana puts his input in the semi-finals, but if it's becoming a problem, let Randy come in and help 'em out He pretty much has to show up at some point on the reality series, since he's been in every other one.
