TUF 6: Episode 5
Yeah, I had to make one of these too.
Apparently tonight's episode will be pretty good, unlike the previous ones.
Here's what "mmajunkie" had to say:
Quote:
|
Speaking of the latest season of the show, tonight’s episode of “The Ultimate Fighter: Team Hughes vs. Team Serra” is perhaps the best one of the year. MMAjunkie.com received an advance copy of the episode earlier this week. In addition to a great end-of-episode fight, the show includes plenty of drama back at the house. Although the series has garnered some recent criticism, tonight’s episode will likely win back some viewers.
|
A great fight, you say?
I'll believe it when I see it.
I'm counting on "plenty of drama" though.

Who would have thought Mac and Wang would be such good friends. I thought his reaction in the house was a little uncalled for.

I say this with all respect to these guys who get in the Octagon...but the quality of fighter on this year's show has got to be the lowest of any season yet.

Pretty good episode with a nice knockout at the end. He fell so slow it was almost funny to watch.

Decent episode. The knock out was a treat, although I saw it coming from 10 miles away. There hasn't been anyone i've been very impressed by this season. The stand up of most of these guys is wide open, Especially tonight. Besides Mac (whos slowly making himself look like a twat) I havent seen anyone really worthy of fighting in the WW division.
Serras beginning to make me not want to watch the show also. His antics are extremely obnoxious and immature.

Don't expect Danzig to stay at WW. All his fights have been as a LW. It's too early to say whether the remaining six deserve to be in the division or not. I thought Joe (Piscio? the guy that fought in the first fight) looked pretty good.

I agree, this season seems a little weak to me. Half these guys look like they should be at LW.
Seemed to me like the "Electrician" was looking for a way out of the fight after he took that Big shot.
Mac just seems a little frustrated, he is acting like a little weird about the whole bugs thing. Seems like a good guy other than this show though.

No Scarola, no religion - thought it was a good episode.
I'm glad Paul stuck around to fight...that's no easy situation, that's for sure.
Hughes: "I need a win out of you. I want you to feel confident. Who do you want to fight?"
Paul: "War Dog."
Hughes: "You're fighting Troy."
Hughes: "We're all here for you." Fast forward...."That was not the gameplan to stand and slug it out."
Serra: "Don't worry. You'll come back stronger than ever."
Mac: "Paul, you fought a great fight. I don't care what anybody says."
He loses a family member and gets knocked out. He must be feeling like crap already.
So who is compassionate and cares about the fighters?
If that's all about editing, then I wonder why they're making it look like Hughes is exactly as Serra describes him?

The talent pool isn't as bad as the other seasons. At the prelim fights every season, half the people look like they don't belong. Every season is declared the worst season ever by the first 4 episodes. None of any of the season's fights were all that spectacular in the beginning. I bet by the last 6 or so episodes, we will be a bit more impressed by the fighters left.
Oh yeah, Mac sure is looking like an a-hole.

I dont like Mac at all, and Serra is really pissing me off with his lack of class. He talks so much **** about Hughes that he has become what he hates.
I think Hughe's remaining 3 fighters look really strong and he should have no problem edging out the next 3 wins to tie this series up.

This fight was OK, but not that "great" really.
But looks like both teams have some badasses left at this point, so the upcoming fights will surely be better.
I'm sure Mac will do fine at LW after the show.
And after reading his blog (Bomber's thread) again, I'm not ready to hate him just yet.
He made some good points and seemed to genuinely regret lashing out at Bowman. I think he's mostly a smart and cool guy, just a bit emotional sometimes.
But who wouldn't be in that situation.

TUF-6 is the worst of all of the seasons so far, IMO. This episode was just as stupid as the others. Matt Serra has been on a downhill slide since episode one. He constantly makes himself out to be the "dick" that he stated about Hughes.
And, I agreed with Hughes. He's a coach. It's his job to alert the team to the fact that Paul deviated from the stated game plan. What he said was not a slight against Paul. It was a fact. But, Paul had big problems outside the sport to think about. His loss was understandable.
And, WTH is Serra doing going over to the guy on Team Hughes and talking to him like a coach? He keeps inserting himself where he did not belong. He constantly mouths off, and is clearly obsessed with Matt Hughes.

Yeah, people should read Mac's blog before they judge too harshly. It really explains a lot.
If I had only seen the show and not read his blog, I would think he was a pretty big jerk as well. But after reading his blog....eh, just human. He was in a bad mood and said something stupid and regretted it.
As far as this being the worse talent pool yet. I will have to wait and see some more fights.
I think a lot of it has to do with the match-ups. Serra and Hughes are obviously going to create a match-up they view as a great advantage to their fighter. Usually this means picking the weaker fighters off the other team as the opponent. So yeah, the fights so far have been pretty weak.
Once we get in the semi's, I am sure people will change their mind. At least I hope anyways.

Serra probably went up to the kid because he need some sympathetic words seeing as Hughes isn't that warmhearted to a guy after he loses. I thought it was a nice thing of Serra to do to a guy that just lost both a match and his cousin.
