Default How do they keep the fighters quiet?

I was just wondering if anyone knew how the UFC keeps the fighters quiet as to who wins the whole thing after filming has finished.

I'm assuming contracts, but by the past behaviour of certain fighters I'm suprised it hasn't leaked out one season after a few beers at a local bar.

Cheers

I'm sure the contracts that they sign state that they can probably get sued if they talk about what happened on the show, and remember they would only know who makes it to the finals, not who wins it all since that is decided live. Problem is you have the fighters, main coaches, assistant coaches, judges for the fights, medical personnel, film crew. All it takes is 1 person to tell a friend who has a friend who will post it on the net. I never check the results beforehand(would defeat the purpose of watching the show) but I've heard you could find the results on the net for every season while that season is taking place.

They have to sign contracts, all employees of the show do. I worked on Contender season's 1, 2 & 3 and I believe the fine for giving out information was 3 million dollars. You'd have to claim bankruptcy. Sometimes, if production has a big enough budget, they'll try and keep everyone on lock down until the show has aired, but that is rare. Also you have the live show with the two finalist so you never know who's going to win the entire show.

To be honest though I sure that some of these guys have told people. However, if you think about it it's in everyones best interest to keep their mouth shut. Let's say a news department like MMA Weekly got hold of who won this season of TUF. By printing it they might make the shows ratings go down, sure they'd capitalize on that one story, but they'd lose more readers on all of the future stories they would have published about TUF.

The real money for everyone comes after the show. This includes the fighters, the UFC & the media. That's why they stay quite.

Thats true.

I was just thinking if these guys get drunk and smash their house to bits, getting drunk elsewhere and mentioning who the finalists were is pretty likely!

Cheers

maybe it has something to do with the owners having an affiliation with the mob?

I'm sure that the fear of not ever getting an oppotunity to fight in the UFC is a major factor.

Dana would trash the career of any fighter that spilled the beans.
If I was on the show, no way would I ever tell.....except maybe my wife......crap, then the whole world would know.
