Steve Mazzagatti is awful!!!
sorry if i spelled his name wrong but i dont care... its one thing after another with this guy.. in the TUF fight tonight he says STOP STOP... 3 seconds later dante gets a take down so he says fight fight... are you kidding?
how about the mir\lesner fight where he takes a point away with no warning after 1 tap on the head right off the bat.... his stoppages suck lately as well...
just venting!!!

I thought I heard the same thing but wasn't sure. I thought it was a little odd he did that. He has made a few mistakes of late.

Ahah yea, I was cracking up when that happened. They shouldn't have shown rampage flip out on the preview last week, pretty much knew what was going to happen after the first minute or so of the first round.

Man that wasn't even close to 3 seconds. That's a major exaggeration there. The takedown was set up before Mazzagatti said anything and happened at the same exact time he said "stop". They hit the mat and he let them keep going. I saw absolutely nothing wrong with that. Steve doesn't deserve to get his name dragged through the mud for that.

Yeah, I agree.
It came fractions of a second before he initiated the takedown, but it was not enough for either fighter to react to it.
Hence Mohawk not protesting after the takedown.
No problem here.

He wanted to change the position of the fighters due to lack of action / position improvement. They changed it on thier own before he could actually step in, so the move was accomplished. What would you say if right when they hit the mat he stood them up? Good reffing IMO.

I agree with you that neither guy really had time to react, but Mohawk seems a little bothered by it.

MMAJUNKIE.COM: At one point in the second round, Steve Mazzagatti yells for you guys to break just as Dante trips you to the mat. Do you think the fight should have been stood up?
BRANDON SENE: Yeah, that honestly bothered me. If you re-watch the fight or if you were watching it last night, I was clinched with Dante repeatedly. The action would stall, and I would just stand there staring at [Mazzagatti]. It probably looked like I was looking at my coaches, but I was looking at him trying to get him to restart us.... I knew he was going to break us up when I saw that he was walking over to us, so I kind of relaxed, but at the same time, that's right when Dante tripped me to the mat. But [Mazzagatti] said "stop," so I looked up at him, and he was just like "continue." I think we should have restarted... The only reason to argue such a small point is that every little thing mattered in that fight, and it could have decided whether or not there was a third round.

Exactly. Steve was going to stop the fight for inactivity, until a takedown happened right as he said stop. It's not his fault the timing happend that way. He did the right thing by letting it continue.

I wasn't big on the point deduction either, but after re-watching it he did warn him.
