Default Dana – “If Sylvia wants to end his career in UFC he has to go on TUF”

Former two time UFC chmpion Tim Sylvia (24-5) recently talked to Fighters Only Magazine expressing interest that he would like to end his career with the UFC. However when the 33-year-old Maine-iac squared off against legendary Mercer, 48, in a mixed martial arts encounter that formed part of the Adrenaline III show in Birmingham, Alabama. Sylvia was knocked out 9 seconds into the bout by an overhand right which left the former champion on the canvas, forcing the referee to call an end to the bout. The president of the UFC, Dana white was vocal on his thoughts regarding Sylvia’s comments on returning to the UFC:

“Are you kidding me, he seriously wants to return to the UFC?” asked White “He hasn’t won a fight in years and when he did he usually put eveyone to sleep, the only time he’s in an exciting fight is when he’s getting his [expletive] ass handed to him. Look, he just got beat by a near 50 year old in under 10 [expletive] seconds, how do you expect to be taken seriously after that? he just made MMA look like a complete joke. If he has any hopes of ending his career in (the) UFC he will have to go on TUF, there’s no other way he’s getting in”

Talk about adding humiliation to defeat. Some harsh words.

You ever get the feeling that some people are just destined to be ridiculed?

Tim, most of the time, seals his own fate.

Yeah, I've never seen so much delight on the boards after seeing someone get knocked out.

Just say NO Dana. No reason for Tim to knock off any up and comers (if that is even possible now), or for any past champs to be in TUF.

Just for the record, I'm pretty sure that site is bull****.....and most of their articles aren't true.

I'd take that paragraph with a grain of salt.

They have made up a bunch of **** in the past too.....such as this:

    http://latestmmanewsnow.wordpress.co...a-aint-nobody/

While I can see Mayweather saying that...........he didn't.

If you notice, you can google anything from the interview and it doesn't come up anywhere else....it's just somebody's blog where they make a bunch of stuff up.

Btw, anybody can create a blog at a xxx.wordpress.com.

Yeah, that site is full of fake articles. LOL. If you look at the Mayweather article, they don´t even know his real age. It says 35, while Floyd Jr. is 32. Plus, who the F is the guy doing the interview? Mike Delahunt? LOOOOL

You do know Kimbo is going on TUF to get into the UFC which is what he said Tim would have to do in that interview (even if the article is real)....

I am of the opinion that Dana should allow at least one fight for Tim in the UFC.

If Sylvia wins, he gets another.

My reason is simple: Tim was a UFC heavyweight champion within the past 5 years and that accomplishment should at least earn him another shot in the UFC. It's more out of respect for the title than for him personally.

Im with you to a point. I dont think the UFC should have past champs crawling on their bellies to TUF for another fight in the org. But giving Sylvia another fight right now doesnt work for me either, he is in the absoloute pits of mma just now.

Exactly. I guess that's why I don't feel bad for him, he had his chance in the UFC and he chose to leave. I remember when he was still in the UFC and towards the end of his contract he was talking about money and seeing what else is out there for him. Well Tim you now see the grass is not always greener on the other side.

I think tim would still be getting fights in the UFC if he had never left.

Exactly. Which is what I'm referring to. Everyone's saying Tim's getting the shaft but when it comes to Kimbo having to do the same thing, the general consensus is "that's fair".

Slightly different in that Tim is an ex-champ for the UFC and, between him and Arlovski, pretty much dominated the HW division for years.

Kimbo is a 3-1 rookie in MMA, so there's no reason why he shouldnt be on TUF.

Exactly. I think comparing the 2 on the subject of who belongs on TUF is 200% different. If Tim did TUF it would be embarrassing for him. Even if he won and if he lost it would be even worse.

Either that or, given his drawing power, let him have a title shot right away.

Wasn't Lesnar 3-1 when he got a title shot?
