I think Matt was a big part of Shonies win, he taught Shonie what to do in the positions he actualy occured in the fight. Id be looking forward to a Serra-Carter 2, but also a Thomas vs Serra 2.
I didn't realy believe Shonie wen he said he trains with good guys, but not guys that can push him to the needed levels, BUDDY!!!!, you train with Brian Gassaway, the dude has 0% body fat, you should have to problem keeping conditioned.

Perhaps if Shonie would stop trying so hard to showboat on the show with his "pimp" outfits, and focuse on training instead. He'd have been in much better shape for that match. As it is he was barely holding on there.

And? Check out like every other athlete in every other sport, they can be human the 18 or so hours a day they arent training...LET HIM walk around in pimp suits, LET HIM paint over the UFC logo (which was badass btw), let him do what he wants
as you saw in the elimination bout, and im sure as the people on his team sees during training when he receives the order...HE DELIVERS
hell, professional athletes are some of the biggest, cookiest clowns you will ever meet (i.e. Clinton Portis) they have to be for their own sanity lol

I don’t like the attitude of some of the fans who always like to complain. When they say if you had a quick fight that they wished it was longer and if you have a long fight they say you should have beaten this guy quicker. Some people you just can’t please. If it is so easy, they can put on a glove and do it themselves. I’ll watch them fight.

I agree. I don't get the big deal that many are making. I'm sure Dana is not in that crowd. He has a guy on the show that is entertaining and brings it in the ring. What more could he ask for?

I like watching somebody like Shonie with some personality. I think he can be dangerous on this show. He's going to get in some good training and cardio before the next match and he should improve. I don't think he'll win it all, but he's going to be tough for his next opponent.

With the amount of money the UFC is making with this show and the publicity, they give a .... about somebody painting the UFC logo or acting crazy. Important thing is to bring it, when it´s time to fight.

i think the point of having this style of tuf is to make the fighters in the ufc more popular , not cuz they suck or anything like that.

Dana pretty much stated it on the show. Through the last three seasons, they've had some warriors, and they've had some guys flake out on them and decide that they don't have what it takes to "be a f**kin' fighter". By bringing in guys who've already fought their way to the UFC, many of whom have held titles in other organizations, you're going to have an entire season of Bispings and Sanchezes, with no Tait Fletchers or whoever that guy was at the beginning of season 2 who decided he didn't like the cameras and bailed. Everyone in TUF4 has proven that they're the real thing.

I really enjoyed this first episode. It was cool to see lots of the fighters out of the octagon and to see how they are in 'real life' and in training. I also thought it was good to see how well Shonie and Matt were getting on, just shows how professional MMA fighters can be.
I was glad to see Shonie make it through to the next stage. Ok, he's never gonna be a threat to Matt Hughes but he's got a warrior spirit and I think he feels like he's got something to prove after puking in the training session.

I just want Shonie to open his eyes and lift his head and look like he's not stoned or falling asleep all the time. When he lost to Nate Quarry, I thought he literally looked drunk in the ring. I'm sure he wasn't, but what's the matter with him? Wake up, Shonie! It's like he's got chronic fatigue syndrome or something.

a little aside about the Shonie-Quarry fight, when he was coming down to the ring he tried to stand on a folding chair like 3 times almost fell the first 2 times, then on the 3rd try he finally was able to stand on it and lift his arms in the air! He was almost KTFo by a folding chair before the match started! LOL
BTW how come Nick Diaz didn't make the show? It was heavily rumored he would be on.

My understanding, and this comes from guys in Stockton who know Nick that posted on the UG, is that the rumours started because the UFC approached him to be on the show, but that's as far as it went. While it was taping and people were posting all over the place that Nick was probably in the TUF house, people on the UG were posting and saying, "Listen to me. I can guarantee you 100% that Nick Diaz is NOT part of TUF4." People ignored them and held out hope, but they turned out to be correct.

Nick was supposed to be on TUF 4, he was even scheduled to go to the house and everything. But he pulled out of it late, and that is when Jeremy Jackson stepped in for Dana and became a contestant.
Can anyone tell me if the losing fighters are allowed to stay at this house this season, not sure if they will be allowed to this season.

Yes losers stay in the house. Like many i was most impressed with Matt Serra. He didn't even hesitate to put history behind him and was one of the best cornermen i've ever seen. All for a guy who KOed him with 10 seconds left of a fight he was winning. I live on LI and was on the fence about trying out his school, but now there's no doubt in my mind that i'd love to have him as a coach and trainer.

Yeah, I give props to Serra. Not only did he give advice, he put matters aside, coached, and got into it. Not everyone can do that. PROPS TO SERRA!
