so is there any word on when the game could be released or if its even definite that there will be one

Yes. They've officially announced that the game is in the works. Green light. They're projecting a 2008 release, but as I've said multiple times in the various threads about the game, sites like IGN and Gamespy say that it could be more like early 2009. We'll see. I don't want to wait that long, but I also don't want them to rush out an inferior product.
