7 lbs I highly doubt he will lose that much. What does this mean as far as the belt is concerned? If it was the contender then it would be a non title fight but I have never even heard of a champ not making weight and it can't be a non title fight because that would seriously **** Sonnen over if he wins.
Yeah, this is serious for Filho too considering he pulled out of the last one due to personal issues. Not sure what's going on with him, but something ain't right.
Filho won't make weight, hopefully they allow it to be a non title fight. I'm going to this event, and although there are alot of awesome fights lined up, I'll be pissed if this one doesn't happen. Hopefully Filho was just holding in a monster ****.
Who knows with Florida, hopefully the officials allow a fight to happen (and Chael Sonnen).

It is now a 3 round non-title fight. Sonnen was robbed at his chance to get real recognition in his last WEC fight.
IMO, a champion that fails to make wieght should be stripped of his title.

^Same here. I mean it shows that you're not capable of of filling your responsibilities as a fighter much less holding onto the belt, but that's just my opinion. Really ****ed up situatuion for Chonnen to be placed in.

I agree. Tough situation. Filho has repeatedly said that this would be his last fight at 185. Its a shame he couldn't make it one last time. He has stated tonight that if he loses, he'll give the belt to Chael anyway. Terrible job by Filho and I feel bad for Sonnen having to deal with this garbage.
That being said, I hope he pulls Sonnen's arm off with an armbar and beats him with it. Sonnen is basically a journeyman who talks about how great he is all the time. Sorry, IMO he verbally tapped when he screamed last time.

100% Agreed. Chael did his part. Why punish him? And why should Filho be rewarded by protecting his belt in the event he loses? That is not fair, smart or right. With this kind of precedent any Champ who feels he might lose his belt in an upcoming bout can just fail to make weight and have the fight turned into a non-title fight. Not a good way to approach the situation.
Here is how it should play out. If Chael takes the fight and wins he is champ. If He loses to Filho then the belt is stripped and a title fight occurs between the 2 top contenders who are not the ousted champ.
