Yeah, but shouldn't the Carwin fight have alerted him to the fact that he needed to deal with striking better? I don't know if he'll ever acclimate to that, and that means he may win a few more fights, but probably won't take out the likes of Cain or JDS.

I still say put him up against Nelson next. He'll probably get Mir though.

Maybe Brock should just stand there and let Pat Barry punch and kick the crap out of him, or do what the guys at XTreme Couture call "greenlighting."

It came down to experience and speed in this and Cain had it and Brock didnt. IMO it's that simple. Brock now has to do what he did vs Frank. Brock loses to a simple leg lock, he now has to train up the arse in striking and he'll be fine.

Yep, and the precedent set by his training after getting subbed shows he'll dive neck-deep into striking training.

I'm also hoping he varies up his takedown training (same thing with Bader) to have more than a double-leg at his disposal for getting the fight to the ground.

How awesome would Brock look coming into his next fight using a hip toss to go to ground?

Dude's still got plenty of time to become more well-rounded, and he's got the drive and discipline to do it.

After watching UFC 121, It looks like Schaub may have been correct in his assessment. Clearly, Brock needs to get more strikers into his camp and just get used to being hit. One thing that may help is for him to actually leave his isolated fort and actually train where other fighters train.

My 2 cents.

Either that or just bring in solid strikers to like you said hit him and get him used to being hit.

This is a tough thing to train for. It can take years for someone to get acclimated to being hit. And even at the very top levels with very good fighters both in MMA and Boxing? Even they struggle under attack being hit.

If anyone can do it? Brock can. He's such a physically talented person, who also is HUUUGE, and also I think overall is not afraid to throw down. I mean he dove right in there (as stupid as that was), vs Cain. He tried to throw down, but simply doesn't have that level of technique yet striking vs someone who is a very very very good all around fighter in Cain and a very good technical striker.

Why does Shaub care what they do in Brocks camp. If he's so evolved why did Big Country knock him out?

Shaub acts just like McSweeney. Just because you train with Nate,Rashad, and GSP doesn't mean your a great fighter.

Thats what makes us fight fans, our diversity! LOL only reason I like Kos is he not scared to exchange punches with you, and I like that.
But there are other wrestlers out there that can punch on happily aswell.

But I've always liked Traditional Martial Arts, and therefore have the most love for the Stand up fight.
BJJ is growing on me by the day though! beginning to love it.

I dont know why I like BJJ over wrestling though , I think its the technicality.

Yeah BJJ is by far my favorite aspect of MMA or Martial Arts in general.

Cuts O Meat

I don't believe he meant it like that. I believe he was simply trying to get across that he IS a well rounded fighter, meaning he does not have one skill in which he excels above the rest. They are all even. He believes GSP and Marquardt to be the same, and thus the relation between the three. I don't think he meant he was as well round as them, simple that he is a well rounded fighter like them.

I also don't think he is as well rounded as them.

This is one of those times when i totally agree with cuts. I dont think it was presumptuous of brendan to say that...what, he can't mention other (better) fighters when he's asked a question? He does name GSP and Nate before himself. I think he was just trying to think of examples.

IMO he is nowhere near as well rounded as either guy to whom he chose to compare himself. His name doesn't belong with Georges and Nate's. I understand you see it differently. I am ok with that.

Dude he's just saying he's like GSP with regards to being well rounded. It has nothing to do with how good of a fighter he thinks he is.

LOL we must be opposites, I don't mind wrestlers and like quite a few of them but I can't stand Kos.

Presumptuous of him regardless. He's a long way from being worthy of being mentioned in the same breath with either of those two guys.

When you're as big as Brock? While I understand Shaub's frustration? You don't have to evolve until someone proves you wrong or takes you out. So far that has only been Frank Mir. Then Brock evolved his Jitz game and slammed Franks head so hard, his brain is still fried where he fights old MMA legends by waltzing with them for three rounds pretending he's on dancing with the Stars.

So. Until Brock gets "tooled" again? Then I say take what works and keep using it. And right now it's his size and power.

The same thing I was going to write.
I think in the HW division, a game plan that Brock has is and obviously can work for him. It's just not the same for all weight classes though.

Schaub's not really saying anything we haven't heard Bas say recently...Brock not understanding the guard - ya know, basic MMA. He's got the wrestling no doubt and his striking and positioning has improved but overall dude's using his size and so far it works for him.

Wow. So Schaub considers himself in the same category as GSP and Nate the Great? A bit premature there Brenda.

Depends what category that is. If he means the category of well rounded fighters, they I don't see why not. If he means the category of legendary fighters then I don't think so.

I'm pretty sure he he was implying the former.
